Armani Jewelry

Giorgio Armani, known as one of the top designers in Milano fashion circles, has expanded his fashion line to include Armani jewelry. Each piece is uniquely Giorgio, from the timeless classical design to the instantly recognizable eagle logo.

Armani was born in Piacenzo, Italy, in 1934. You may not know that this icon of Italian fashion first went to medical school to become a doctor. While his mother said that he just couldn’t stand the sight of blood, Armani says he just couldn’t sit still long enough to complete the studies that would be required. In either case, Armani dropped out of medical school after 3 short years, and he started to follow his dreams.

You could say that Armani’s first job in the world of fashion was at the department store, Il Rinascente. He spent seven years as a buyer for this department store, which is often called “The Sears of Italy.” It was not very glamorous, but it was in that store that he began to develop relationships with designers, and learned the behind-the-scenes workings of the clothing world. He created window displays, coordinated articles of clothing to show off their versatility, and met some of the buyers that would later help him break into the business on his own.

Armani saved his paltry wages, and ultimately went to design school to study under some of the top clothiers of the day. In 1974, at age 40, he introduced his first line of ready-to-wear clothing for both men and women. Armani was not influenced by the over-the-top and unpractical designs of the day. He preferred simple lines and silhouettes, which showcased the wearer more than the clothes.

Although his designs erred on the side of relative conservatism, he also favored luxurious fabrics that were classy yet indulgent. Soft lines and layered fabrics created a feeling and mood of sophistication, rather than outrageous and bold statements.

For these reasons, Armani’s clothes were in top demand. He could command outrageous prices for his designs, and he was not afraid to do so. However, as the economy and the general attitude of the world changed, he knew he had to change, too, in order to remain competitive. In 1980, he opened Giorgio Armani USA, Emporio Armani, and Armani Jeans. These boutiques were targeted at a younger, but less affluent, market. In 1989, he opened his first shops in London.

Armani’s designs were simple. He favored unstructured lines for men, and wide-shouldered, but somewhat casual, jackets for women. His vision was of understated glamour, with luxurious fabrics that still made the wearer feel sexy.

With this same clean approach to fashion, he again diversified and began designing Armani jewelry. With the same simple approach, his creations are timeless and elegant, classy and sophisticated.

In browsing the Armani jewelry line, you will immediately notice that the main elements are variations on silver and black. Some designs are delicate and feminine, whereas others are bold and chunky. Armani does not pretentiously name his jewelry pieces, but rather sticks with the same philosophy he has always had. Necklaces are necklaces, earrings are earrings. There are simply designed rings, and fun and flattering brooches.

For men, an Armani jewelry favorite is the traditional black leather bracelet with an exclusive Emporio Armani logo tag prominently displayed. There are variations to this classic, so you can choose what is more your style. Sophisticated men may also consider Armani cufflinks, created from 925 silver, and also bearing the trademark Armani eagle logo. Like well-manicured hands, Armani cufflinks let a woman know that this is a man who takes pride in his appearance.

Regardless of what piece you select from the Emporio, you will notice that each one is branded as being authentic and exclusive Armani jewelry. If you want your friends to immediately know you’re wearing Armani, you can find designs which flaunt the eagle logo that has become synonymous with Giorgio Armani. Some of the more feminine designs sport an intricate play on the initials “EA.” Some simply say “Emporio Armani.” If you’re looking for discreet, many of the pendants cleverly, but discreetly, work in the logo, but even with these, your detail-oriented friend will still know who you’re wearing.

Armani jewelry collections change each year, but they remain with the same underlying theme…designs that every woman and man can enjoy, regardless of the occasion. You can expect to pay a bit more than you would at a department store, but these simple designs can carry you through from season to season. Keep in mind that Armani jewelry is relatively exclusive, and it can’t be found in every department store. It’s even a bit difficult to find on the web, but it’s worth the hunt. That’s part of the fun. You know when you purchase Armani jewelry, it’s more likely to be exclusive.
